Sand on a Summer Day

This guy was making a cool design out of colored sand at Washington Square Park. Pretty neat.

According to my friend, "it's similar to the mandalas tibetan monks create with colored sand. it's a long, tedious process..."

I walked by an hour later and he had filled in curves around all of the circles.

Sucks to imagine at the end of the day that it gets blown away or stepped on!

May Day Fun Days at Brimfield, MA

Holy crap! Indeed... I just had my first antiques show experience in Brimfield, MA. Collectors, dealers, and fashionistas from all over the country (and maybe world) converge in this small town at the break of dawn each day for a week in the hopes of finding "treasure" amongst someone else's trash. If you are dedicated, don't mind digging and sifting, and maybe have a lot of patience, you could find some amazing things... Brimfield is the largest antiques show in the country and they have 3 week long shows every summer. May, July and Sept. The May show is the most popular one to check out, and is assumed to have the most stuff.

If I had a bigger living space, I'd totally rent a U-Haul and buy up a shitload for furniture... the majority of what you'll find there.

I did find some treasures... and observed some trash...

yes.... i did use my Hipstamatic app for my iPhone for some of these photos... ;-)

I know I said "no" to online dating....

... but I just might have to give this a try. I mean, I'm a MAC! I've dated a PC before and he was so opposite me. Practical, mechanical and couldn't think his way out of a box... not a single creative bone in his body. bo-riiiiiing.

a quote from the new Mac user dating site, Cupidtino:

"Cupidtino is a beautiful new dating site created for fans of Apple products by fans of Apple products!" a message on the site says. "Why? Diehard Mac & Apple fans often have a lot in common – personalities, creative professions, a similar sense of style and aesthetics, taste, and of course a love for technology. We believe these are enough reasons for two people to meet and fall in love, and so we created the first Mac-inspired dating site to help you find other Machearts around you."

that's me! creative, sense of style and aesthetics. this is a good idea. do you know how many hot people shop at the Apple Store??!!

maybe i'll meet someone that i love even more than my iPhone?

Fancy Polka Dots

I'm back tracking with this post a bit. I traveled to Hong Kong in March and was intent on 2 things: Hello Kitty shopping extravaganza and getting a fancy pants manicure. So, we stumbled upon a place called Bling Nails on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong.

Bling Nails did not disappoint. There were so many options, it took me nearly 45 minutes to make up my mind! I finally settled on polka dots and hearts
.

I loved it and got so many compliments. My manicure lasted me about 3 weeks. No chipping, no cracks, nothing. love! :)

Justin Nozuka @ Hiro Ballroom 4/21/10

i am in love with this one... big red hearts.

i had already bought and listened to justin nozuka's debut album "Holly" last year. i nearly forgot about dear justin in the midst of the crap called music that's out there today until i saw he was going on tour... i bought tickets to his show ($20 was a damn steal) and didn't really have super high expectations except that i would be seeing a slightly mellow concert by an artist i sort of knew.

it wasn't exactly mellow... there was a group of frat boys going bonkers over justin's performance in the middle of the crowd. i thought moshing would ensue! i had to yell at one who had let out a manly cry while justin was singing a slow acoustic number minus his band. freakin' frat boys...

how is this kid only 21? his vocal ability and lyrics are way beyond his years. it was just really enjoyable to watch someone so young who could convey emotion and a story through sitting on a stool, playing guitar and singing into a mike. i've seen a lot of shows(mostly of the big production/mass produced pop variety...) and i was so impressed!

listening to his album is one experience but seeing him live is something to not be missed..

he's also a pretty nice guy (at least in a public venue in front of fans). i felt compelled to buy his new cd "you i wind land and sea" because i enjoyed the show so much... i also was happily buzzed off of 2 glasses of chardonnay... i never buy cds! after i bought it, i was told i could meet justin if i wanted....

reeeeeeeally? couldn't pass that up.

so my friend and i waited with his fans behind a baracade. it wasn't a long wait. 5 lucky(and fast acting) girls were invited to go meet justin back stage. after they came out, he later followed. such a cutie pie. he signed cds(mine twice), chatted with fans (he has nice fans) and posed for photos. i was having issues taking a pic of my friend and justin with her iPhone and he politely stood there with her for 2 whole minutes while i took the photo. he was soft spoken and super gracious. big red hearts for his patience...

here's a link for a live performance of "Save Him" .

and another for the music video for "Criminal", a song from his debut album.

and p.s. ... his opening band wasn't so bad either(and nice gents as well). alpha rev hails from austin, tx.

hi! *waves*

yep... so here i am... in the blogosphere...

hellooooooo??!!

so about me:

i'm a little lady living in the big bad city.
i don't capitalize. i'm too lazy.
i need a place to keep my "isms", likes, and dislikes. this might be a suitable place... for now.

so here we are and away we go.
